Up Against a World of Trouble

No one told us that the meaning of life.

The ability to explain the complex and make it simple to understand is the gift of a great teacher. Reading the Bible, we are made to realize that we are up against a world of trouble. Worse than that, we are only mortal and limited by time, energy, and faith to continue.

Galatians 6: 13: “Be prepared. You’re up against more than you can handle on your own. Take all the help you can get.”

The question is “How can we survive trouble, whether great or small?” Are we able to solve the issues of life that come our way? Well, we are mortal meaning that we have limited time to figure things out and get them right. In technical terms, we are “finite” meaning we have only a limited supply of resources. Some, in fact, have more built-in and external resources than others, but whether great or small … we are finite. We tire, get sick or old, can’t see the future, and can’t understand the reason for cruelty and criminality. We fail a test, get it wrong, suffer through a divorce, lose the money we worked to save, die prematurely, and experience emotional shipwrecks.

Mortality sucks, but immortality offers something a promise after we finish the race of life. Therefore, what lies beyond … the finite that we currently experience? I believe that this mortal existence will eventually transition us to an immortal existence. There is life beyond the grave and God figures in that future.
