A Perpetual Victory Parade

Life can feel like a parade of failures if we see the events of our lives from the wrong side. Life may also seem like a mixed bad of failures and success with failure being more memorable. Or life can be a perpetual victory parade. In a speech I heard decades ago, a man of many years said, “Your Altitude is determined by your Attitude”. I can remember much of what was said, but this illustration stuck with me.

The late Zig Ziglar once said, "It's your attitude, not your aptitude that will determine your altitude". What it essentially means is that to be successful in any area in life you need to have the right attitude to approach any task or job.

Take any problem you have and see it close up as what it is. We are realists in the moment. Then, think of time as height as you enter a hot air balloon to ascend above the problem. As you slowly ascend, the problem shrinks and you see more good as your rise. Look as the terrain under lights up with how many times you saw a better conclusion that you thought would happen. More lights appear and it is now possible to see life in a new perspective.

The higher the balloon rises, the more lights are seen across the panorama life life. Maybe then, you think what you father said, “What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.”

That ballon is faith that allows us to rise above the present issue and see that God has a Grand Plan in which you play a part. Like every pursuit of life, the journey isn’t marshmallows and rainbows. But, there is value in the journey is viewed in faith.

1 Corinthians 10:13: "No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it".

Paul tells us that life can be considered a parade of victory after victory. Just know that it make not “feel like victory” when you are running the race. Victorious living is not measured at the starting gate, but how you finish.
