Is there Truth if there is No God?

God Has a Plan for the Universe

Consider that God exists outside of time. He is eternal regardless of whether we can parse or understand an eternal being. In fact, one of the core attributes about God is that He is eternal, and not mortal. God had no beginning, and He has no end. We humans may have had a conception and birth that started our lives, and we will each die one day. The good news is that God will convey “Everlasting Life” to those who commit their trust to Jesus Christ, so we will have a marvelous and unending life with God in heaven.

The Foundations of the Earth

There is a phrase in the Bible about “The Foundations of the Earth”. I never quite understood this until this is where all the rules of operation are set. The foundations of anything are the core truths that are critical to its operation. Consider this like the manual that comes with your car. These are the basics of the car that you may need to know. The operation manual for a ship or an airplane will be more complex. I can’t imagine all the critical instructions needed to operate a rocket ship around the moon.

So, what were the rules before God placed the Foundations of the World so very long ago? Was hot … well … hot? What was light or dark since this was not yet part of creation? What was water before there was water? Why does water boil at 212 degrees and freeze at 32 degrees? Is all of this arbitrary and accidental?

Why does the earth have a 15-degree tilt that causes the seasons? There are millions upon millions of critical operations that we take for granted.

Universal Laws not Made by Man

I contend that the Foundations of the World were the operational principles set in place by God that did not exist before. If that blows your mind, you have a limited or void understanding of God. We are told that by Him all things exist and continue to exist. And without Him NOTHING that we mortals rely upon would exist.

For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: And he is before all things, and by him all things consist. Colossians 1:16-17

Try to figure out the importance of that bold statement. Truth itself is not our invention. It was God’s invention. He alone sat in the position to make something new that never existed before.

We are quickly overwhelmed by the immensity of how much there is to life in our world. Zoom down to the smallest particle, and there are rules and principles that we didn’t know where there until we made that study. Go out into space or the depths of the seas to discover things that operate that we never before understood.

There is a Plan, and You are Included

Yes, God is eternal, but there is so much more to that fact. God is more than the Prime Mover who got it all started. He is the Author, Sustainer, and Finisher of all things.
