Christian Positive Affirmations
For those wondering why there is a need for Christian success training, take an honest look at the emphasis on the “Positive Affirmations” found in nearly all forms of success training, and contrast them with the Christian positive affirmations taught by The Principal Truth Institute.
The major distinction is not in what they say but in who they confess as their source. Take note of the better Christian positive affirmations:
“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” Philippians 4:13
"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Jeremiah 29:11
“Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. “ Roman 8:37
“And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.“ Romans 8:28
I won’t try to list the many Biblical phrases that would be a good study for you to research online. I do advocate making your own set of memory cards that you read through daily. We need to confess what we believe daily as this reinforces the Spirit inside us. Christian affirmations are confessions of what we think about God’s participation in our lives.
Like Bible verse memorization, positive confessions are more for our own benefit than trying to convince others. Every affirmation should be tied to a solid Bible verse. The power to live, breathe, and succeed comes from God. Jesus Himself said, “I can do nothing on my own. I judge only as I hear, and my judgment is just, because I do not seek my own will, but the will of him who sent me.“ John 5:30 I find this statement remarkable. If anyone could claim power, authority, and ability to accomplish success; it was Jesus. But while He lived as a human, He did not have the power to do any great work. That power came from His Father that was given to Jesus.
From the moment of your conception, God had a plan for you. You were given gifts, abilities, and a destiny (calling) to fulfill. Every positive affirmation that I use is not meant to invoke my strength, but the wisdom, power, and authority of God love all issues that I face. The great John the Baptist who had a huge following that would then follow Christ confessed that “He must increase, but I must decrease.” John 3:30
There is a lot to say on this subject, but I propose that we confess our faith through Worship, Praise, and Thanksgiving. Worship is recognizing the immensity of our holy and eternal God. One of the longest books of the Bible is Psalms, which is a very honest book showing enduring faith in the worst of times and the best of times. If you need some help learning how to praise God and invoke His blessing, spend some time in Psalms to learn how to rely on God as your resource.
