Are Belief and Faith the Same?
Many people have concluded that the word “Belief” and “Faith” are the same. Whether studied or amateur, the difference between the two seems like the two sides of a coin. They are similar but not the same.
By comparison, are ice and water the same? Though both come from the sun, are heat and light the same? Though included in the concept, are men and women the same?
You may believe many things, such as, the bungee ropes will hold your weight as you jump off a bridge, but refuse to validate your belief by making the jump.
You may believe that the swing attached to a tree limb can hold your weight, but you may not be willing to try it after seeing its worn ropes.
We all believe many things from an academic or observation vantage point, but are not willing to actually put it into action. Doubt is the antithesis of belief. Did you know that belief and doubt can exist together in your mind?
“And when he was come into the house, the blind men came to him: and Jesus saith unto them, Believe ye that I am able to do this? They said unto him, Yea, Lord. Then touched he their eyes, saying, According to your faith be it unto you.”
Paul was somewhat disgusted with quai-believers when he said, “I’m finding out that not all ‘believers’ are believers.” II Thess 3:3
Belief is the static form and Faith is the active form of what we hold in our Heart.
In the training material of The Principal Truth and the Eager Heart training, we provide some very powerful Bible-based training about the operation of the Heart, Soul, and Mind of the Inner Man. We feel that it is important to discover how God made us to be successful at any level of life. God made us to succeed and overcome the unkind powers of a sin-compromised world.
