What do you imagine heaven will be like? The concept of heaven is far beyond our ability to conceive of its beauty and perfection that everything we think is like numbering the stars or the grains of sand on the beach. We cannot even get close no matter how hard we try.
Here's a thought that might open your eyes to the occupation of heaven. Think of every grand structure you have every seen or an amazing work of art. Imagine the most palatial building adorned with gold, art, jewels, and stone from exotic places. Consider the artisans who labored a lifetime to create amazing architecture designs. How long would this hold your fascination? Would the return to that palace still be amazing? Anything of amazing beauty seems to provide endless entertainment and interest.
I believe that God is awesome, and we will be in awe of God for eternity. He is the God of infinity, and we will never see the end of His glory.
“One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to inquire in his temple.” Psalms 27:4
God is an infinite being with unfathomable resources. It seems that man is a finite being in a less-than-perfect world. If the best mankind can achieve is impressive, entertaining, and incredible beauty, what must it be like to have all this in unlimited measure? Logically the heaven of God must be incredible, diverse, and a constant manifestation of an infinite and magnificent God. Imagine the ability of an infinite, almighty God that intends only good to those who have made Him their choice.
We may speculate about heaven, but our best thoughts would fall short. If anyone is impressed with this the beauty, diversity, and immensity of this world; we are seeing a sample of what life would be when God unleashes His infinite power and creativity. While we cannot explain and describe heaven, we have evidence of His ability on a limited scale in this life.
We will spend eternity learning and discovering amazing things in heaven. This are no tears, no sorrow, and there is no boredom in heaven. Life in heaven is the best of life on every level. We will be among the best of friends, the height of learning, and the most amazing of beauty on every level.
In Revelation 2:10-18, John was one person who saw the glory of heaven. More of John's experience is found in Revelation 4:1-11. What is reported is just a glimpse of heaven.
Paul was also given a glimpse of the paradise of heaven and he said that what he saw is could not be spoken in human terms and the words could not be expressed in human terms. In short, both men we awestruck by the beauty of God and God's heaven. What heaven holds for us is so superior to what we can see in this earth that it is a wonder that we do not long for the day of our departure.
